Artist Statement
This work of speculative fiction is an exploration exercise. This scenario imagines if new human capabilities were not just for personal benefit but also for community and planetary benefit. I’m interested in exploring questions like: How might we include perspectives of other living beings on earth and move beyond a human-centered use of synthetic biology? How might we imagine more symbiotic futures?
The images on this site were created in collaboration with generative AI. There will be new ways of working as well as ethical considerations that the public should discuss as AI becomes further leveraged into the development of new biotech.
I hope this initial piece of speculative fiction sparked a small feeling (of surprise, worry, excitement, questioning, confusion, hope) and made you aware of bioscience and biotechnology developments that you may not have thought about before (to bring to your next dinner conversation).
